Assisted Living And Memory Care Facilities
Assisted Living and Memory Care Facilities, also referred to as Residential Care Facilities for the Elderly (RCFE) or “Board & Cares”, provide 24-hour (on-site) non-medical personal care. Their typical services include activities, programs, and fitness classes to enrich and motivate, personal assistance with dressing, toileting, transferring, medication management, meal preparation, laundry, housekeeping, and assistance with arranging medical appointments. Some will specialize in memory care for those who suffer from a form of dementia such as
Alzheimer's Disease.
Vascular Dementia.
Lewy Body Dementia.
Parkinson's Disease.
Frontotemporal Dementia.
The rooms and facilities come in different sizes and floor plans ranging from 6-bed homes to apartment-style communities. Term Care Insurance may also cover some of the cost if assisted living is included in your plan. Medicare, supplemental/private insurance, and Medi-Cal (except in certain counties) do not pay for these types of care facilities. Most facilities do not have a long-term lease or “buy-in” fee.
Assisted Living and Memory Care Required Forms:
Prior to an admission to an Assisted Living or Memory Care Community, a Tuberculosis Test, a COVID-19 Test, the Physician’s Report for Residential Care Facilities for the Elderly, a list of medications and PRN's signed by the physician and the chosen facility’s assessment must be completed.
